| Let the weathervane be your guide... |
| The granite mountains of Aston form the border with Andorra. The peaks
rise to 2900 meters and wide valleys stretch before you. At the edge of
this range, the Plateau de Beille, a cross-country ski haven at 2000 meters
is ideal for tranquil treks. The Sisca and Pédoures valleys offer an exceptional wealth of flora. Here again the 2800-meter crests mark the boundary with Andorra. |
| The gentle crests of Chioula, are perfect for cross-country skiing
in winter, and for family hikes or mountain biking in the summer. Beyond Chioula, the ruins of a Cathar castle overlook the Pays d'Aillou, a high plateau at 1200 meters on the Departmental limit between Ariège and Pyrénées Orientales. |
| The vast Tabe range, dominated by the Pic de Soularac at 2368 meters,
separates us from Pays d'Olmes and Montségur. The Corniche (cliff road) runs along the flanks of the Tabe, and is dotted with tiny villages and marvelous Romanesque churches. |
| The 4000-hectare Orlu National Wildlife Reserve shelters a multitude of species. This is the land of the izard - a Pyrenees mountain goat, and the ground hog. It is an enchanting mountain setting of lakes and flowers that has retained its natural beauty. |
