visitez le site de la carrière de Trimouns, l'une des
plus grandes exploitations mondiales de talc à ciel ouvert
en activité.
Surplombant la vallée de
l’Ariège, face à la chaîne des Pyrénées,
un immense cirque blanc s’offre à vos yeux.

an altitude of 1800 m., watch the teams at work on the giant terraces.
Equipped with enormous shovels and dumpers , they remove the rock
covering the seam, and then extract, sort and transport off the site
the softest stone on earth. |

Sur ces gradins géants, des
hommes travaillent. Avec d’énormes machines, ils découvrent,
extraient, trient et transportent le talc, la roche la plus douce
et la plus tendre de notre terre.
La visite de ce gigantesque chantier
en activité a lieu de la mi-mai à la mi-octobre
à des horaires fixes.
Le départ des visites est
organisé depuis l’entrée de la carrière,
à 15km de Luzenac (30 minutes de trajet).
La visite s’effectue en car, (dans
la limite des places disponibles) avec un guide officiel.
D’un belvédère, on découvre l’ensemble du chantier.
La visite dure environ une heure.

The
world’s largest working talc deposit can be visited from mid may
to mid october at fixed times.
The
departure point for the visit at the quarry entrance located 15
km from the village of Luzenac. The drive up the mountain takes
about 30 minutes.
The
guided bus tour lasts an hour.
Visitors
can appreciate the full size of the site from a viewpoint.
Please
note : group (with their own bus) bookings must be made in
advance. Visits may be cancelled due to fog. Therefore we strongly
recommend that you check on the weather conditions by contacting
the tourist office in Vallées d’Ax.
